Freelance writer Kristy Alpert has been covering the green scene since before it was the “thing to do.” Her work has been featured in publications such as D Magazine, Omni Escapes, Home Comfort Style, Oregon Bride, among others. When not crafting stories at her refinished Victorian writing desk, she can be found traveling the globe or scouring the bins at flea markets, searching for those diamonds in the rough.

Even though Portland writer Lucy Burningham has been covering home and design for more than a decade, she still delights in peeking in strangers’ cupboards and making friends with their pets. Her work has appeared in numerous publications, including The New York Times, Saveur and Sunset.

Margaret Foley is a writer and editor living in Portland. Her writing has appeared in Oregon Home, The Christian Science Monitor and High Country News. Her family gets nervous when she sets off to interview homeowners because when she comes back, she starts rearranging the furniture.

Emma Hall is web editor for Oregon Home and Oregon Business in addition to a contributing writer. When not working on the website, she can be found crafting on the couch in her color-infused home or perusing an ever-expanding folder of DIY and home decor blogs. She enjoys exploring her adopted city of Portland and searching for vintage craft supplies to decorate her home.

Lucy Hardiman is the principal of Perennial Partners, a garden design collaborative group, and writes for regional and national publications, including Horticulture Magazine. Hardiman was to the garden born and is a fifth-generation Oregon gardener who doesn’t remember a time that she didn’t want to be digging in the dirt.

Brian Libby is a Portland-based writer, photographer, and award-winning filmmaker. He has published in The New York Times, Dwell, The Oregonian and Metropolitan Home, among others. He also is the author of Tales From the Oregon Ducks Sideline, a history of his beloved college football team that is being republished this fall.

Portlander Nancy Ranchel is an accountant who offsets the practicality of her day job with extravagant and outrageous remodeling projects, often involving massive amounts of scrap metal.  In her free time she can be found dreaming up new ways to turn her house into an art installation, digging through scrap heaps, and contemplating a world without plastic. Read about it on her blog.

When she’s not scouting her next story, you can find her exploring flea markets, teaching yoga or traveling.

Portland writer and editor Alisa Welch has a degree in art history from New York University and is completing an MFA in writing from Portland State University. She’s written for The Oregonian, Portland Monthly and Austin Monthly. Despite periodic Tex-Mex food cravings, she loves her hometown of Portland where she resides with her husband and 2-year-old daughter.

Based in Portland, Lincoln Barbour is an advertising and editorial photographer of creature comforts. He loves to shoot food, homes and moments of a leisurely lifestyle. His photos are natural, vibrant and incredibly technical; yet the feeling of the imagery he makes evokes a sense of being there.

New Yorker turned Oregonian Michael Cogliantry’s photos regularly appear in Esquire and Field & Stream.

Jon Jensen lives with his wife and 7-year-old daughter in a turn-of-the-century craftsman bungalow on the east side of Portland. His home design and lifestyle photography have appeared in many national publications, including Better Homes & Gardens, Sunset, Luxe and Traditional Home.

Joshua McCullough, originally from the Hawaiian Islands, has made his home in Portland since 2003. He is the founder of the botanical image resource company PhytoPhoto, which is dedicated to plant and garden photography. The focus covers everything from endangered species to local farmers markets and some of the world’s finest garden estates. His work appears regularly in publications worldwide.

Teresa Meier is studying Media Arts and Animation at the Art Institute of Portland with a focus on editorial photography and 3-D computer graphic illustration. She also recently studied under National Geographic photographer, Michael Melford on location in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Teresa’s personal projects include fine art, adventure & travel photography and, of course, being a superhero.

Ty Milford is a lifestyle photographer and director based in Portland whose work is characterized by bright, vivid, real feeling moments infused with motion and emotion. When he isn’t thinking about or making images, he can be found cycling in the West Hills, running on the Wildwood Trail or playing dress-up with his 2½-year-old daughter, Malia.

Leah Nash has a passion for documenting the normal and the extreme. Her work has appeared in Newsweek, Rolling Stone, Mother Jones, GEO Magazine and The New York Times. She recently received a Society of Professional Journalists award for her photo essay on Asperger’s syndrome and homelessness, and also received a Regional Arts and Culture Council grant to expand the project.

Award-winning photographer Eric Naslünd has worked for publications ranging from Eugene Magazine to The New York Post for the past five years. He has an affinity for capturing people in their element and covering what is not usually seen. “People, their lives, and their spaces all have their underlying story of why,” observes Naslünd.

Susan Seubert is one of the country’s top editorial photographers; in 1999, Columbia University awarded her Life magazine’s Alfred Eisenstaedt Award. She shoots assignments globally and is a contributor to National Geographic Traveler Magazine and The New York Times. She is a photography expert for National Geographic Expeditions and exhibits in galleries around the U.S., including the Froelick Gallery in Portland.

StickleyPhoto is Fred and Holly Stickley, husband and wife photography & graphic design team, based in Portland, OR.  They are passionate about all things art and culture, which shows with each and every project.  For almost two decades, Fred and Holly have enjoyed photographing for publishers, architects, designers, advertising agencies, and manufacturers of home products.  Fred is also an accomplished musician.  You can check him out at fredstickleymusic.com. John Valls has spent the past year photographing a cookbook featuring the best of Oregon’s food. “Having previously met these chefs in their restaurant kitchens, I was surprised to find how delightfully small and simple their home spaces are,” says Valls, who has three cookbooks under his belt. “It goes to show that it’s not a fancy space that makes great food.”

As a graduate of the Brooks Institute of Photography, photographer Paula Watts has mastered the art of creating beautiful architectural imagery. “Lighting is the most important thing in photography for me,” she says. Watts photographs architecture all over the Pacific Northwest and was recently published internationally for her architectural work in Trends Magazine.

After spending six years as a starving actor in New York, Jon Taylor Carter put his creative energies into graphic arts. He spent several years in Central Oregon as a photo stylist and designer with Bend Living, before relocating to Portland as creative director for Oregon Home and Oregon Business. Whether on the stage, styling for a photo shoot, or doing a reality television show, Jon admits he loves being the center of attention.

Originally from Northern California, Sophie Goodwin relocated to the Portland area in 2004. She is the designer for Oregon Home and Oregon Business. Sophie has been designing for the past five years but loves art in all forms. On her days off, she is either out taking pictures or cuddled up on the couch having a Mad Men marathon. Besides her husband, dog and cat, she is also slightly obsessed with elephants and Conan O’Brien.
