PORTLAND – Locally based environmental paint company Colorhouse has opened The Colorspot, a mini brick and mortar retail store and haven for color inspiration. The Colorspot, located at 519 NE Hancock Street, is a new feature of the company’s warehouse-style headquarters and open to the public, contractors and design professionals from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.

Carving a retail storefront out of their home office was a logical move for the 10-year old company, since their 6,000-square foot facility is a hub for fulfilling orders for Colorhouse paint placed through retail partners across the country, including HomeDepot.com, Amazon.com, Houzz.com, among others. In addition, The Colorspot is a PaintCare drop-off site for recycling paint.

“As our brand expands nationwide we wanted a way to stay connected to Portlanders and the city’s creative spirit,” said Puji Sherer, VP of Marketing and Chief Color Nerd. “The Colorspot will facilitate that connection by making our paint and passion for color accessible to the community that inspires us every day.”

Visitors to The Colorspot are greeted with a wall-size display of the company’s 128-color palette and by a Color Nerd, or Colorhouse color expert, who is available as a free resource for creating a palette for a room or an entire home. Appointments are recommended for free color consults with a Color Nerd, and can be scheduled online at colorhousepaint.com.

“We know how hues work together in a room and we take the intimidation out of selecting color,” said Sherer. “We want to inspire people to make the world more colorful – starting with paint in their home.”

In addition to seeing and interacting with Colorhouse’s four signature palettes – Earth’s Color Collection, Handcrafter Collection, Color of Hope and Sprout Collection – The Colorspot gives people an opportunity to see and consider dozens of hues offered exclusively through Rejuvenation and Serena & Lily , which are blended into Colorhouse’s premium, no VOC paint.
