Some Like It Hot

A campfire is cozy, but when summer gatherings go outdoors, nothing adds spark like a fire table. “Fire speaks to a primal place of gathering, of comfort and warmth,” says John Mead, owner of Vesuvian Forge, a maker of high-end concrete products based in McMinnville. “It’s instant — it pulls people in for a long night of connection and conversation.” The company creates its tables (along with outdoor kitchens and other architectural elements) with a proprietary blend of environmentally friendly concrete. Its largest model, the 10-foot “Pompeii,” puts out up to 270,000 BTUs of heat. This party is lit.
