Design Museum Portland, a nomadic museum which features city-wide events, exhibitions, and programming focused on design impact, is teaming up with the Portland Development Commission, Oregon Manufacturing Extension Partnership, and Pacific Northwest College of Art’s Collaborative Design department to announce Product Pitch Party — a recurring event competition and online show offering selected finalists the opportunity to pitch new product ideas in front of an expert panel and a live studio audience.

The evening events will be filmed for a video episode series featuring the product pitches and expert deliberation along with behind-the-scenes interviews and studio visits with the product pitchers themselves. The intent is to reach a broad online audience to amplify the maker movement of Portland worldwide. The in-studio audience will include designers, entrepreneurs, investors, and corporations looking to see what’s next.

Whether it’s tech, design, product, engineering, craft, or creative, Product Pitch Party is intended to provide the platform for Makers of all disciplines to highlight their work. After each pitch, the expert panel of product developers, industrial designers, and investors, spearheaded by ADX and PortlandMade’s Kelley Roy, will deliberate and discuss, as well as provide feedback, advice, and ultimately seed funding and mentorship for the Winner of each event.

The Product Pitch Party call-for-entries is now open through May 27th. An internal review board will vet the pitches and select four finalists who will participate in the first live pitch event on June 16th at PNCA. Selected product ideas will be reviewed for innovation, growth potential, design, and readiness to go-to-market.

Product Pitch Party episode 1 will take place June 16 7-10pm at PNCA’s newly renovated Mediatheque Theater, with support from the Portland Development Commission and the Oregon Manufacturing Extension Partnership.
