Patterns speak louder than words. This is no news to Leland Duck, owner of Revive Upholstery & Design, a custom upholstery workshop and showroom situated in Portland’s Kenton neighborhood. “People are really going out of their way to make a statement,” Duck says. Revive’s five-person team, which takes fabulous old furniture objects and turns them into statement pieces, has been tearing up Instagram of late with its bold fabric choices and custom projects. Pendleton patterns have long been favorites, but big florals, Memphis style geometrics and tiny animals have gone out the door this year. Revive uses a mix of traditional and modern upholstery techniques, reinventing everything from mid century modern stools to Victorian settees and everything in between. “You can put the right little side chair in the corner of the room and it changes everything,” Duck said. revivepdx.com
