Structure + Style 2017: Build Winners

Here are the winners of the 2017 Structure + Style Awards: Build!

SINGLE FAMILY HOME DETACHED – $550,000 – $649,999

The idea behind this home was to offer a modern design in the City of Portland that blends into the existing homes but offers warmth and diversity. The metal roof detail above the front door is a contemporary way to create a covered front porch large enough for a couple of chairs to enjoy a summer day visiting with your neighbors. Low-maintenance landscaping in the front yard was designed to reduce water usage and free up the homeowners to spend less time on yard work and more time doing what they enjoy. This home offers some of the lowest monthly utility costs of any home we build.

SINGLE FAMILY HOME DETACHED – $650,000 – $749,999

In a quiet neighborhood just outside the hustle and bustle of the Rose City lies West Road Lot 2. We have secured and maintained a solid reputation by exceeding expectations for over 24 years. Our homes are designed and constructed for life. This floor plan was crafted specifically to support the growing need for multigenerational living spaces. This mindset was maintained during the interior design portion, as well as by selecting a reliable and classic white and gray color scheme, which is timeless, calming and gives the owner a lot of flexibility for furnishing.

SINGLE FAMILY HOME DETACHED – $750,000 – $999,999

The design to take advantage of rare, unobstructed city views started with builder sketches and morphed into this NW Contemporary dream home for the clients. The use of fir windows and built-ins coordinated with cedar, maple and alder in other spaces throughout the home give it that Northwest feel. This home was built for an artist with an unerring eye for quality. Every built-in was laid out to precisely fit his works of art. I can’t think of a better complement to the quality of our finish carpentry than to use it to display these works of art. We were asked to use multiple wood species and get them to work together rather than contrast each other. We did so with great success.
