Landscape Installation, Over $75,000
WINNER: Blueprint Earth
A marshy, slope-plagued backyard in Portland’s St. Johns neighborhood was transformed into an outdoor oasis. Terraced retaining walls of rough-cut juniper and site-welded steel tame the grade change, while a basin-shaped rain garden funnels runoff past native plantings into a Flo-Well dry well, so water soaks into the ground instead of flooding the yard or the street. A diagonal path ties the back door to the fire pit, sauna and spa; the existing chicken coop stayed right where it belongs.

Set high on a rugged coastal bluff, the Pacific Curve feels both striking and completely at ease on its wild coastal site. A graceful curved roofline and a matching arc of glue-laminated ceiling beams sweep the eye out toward the Pacific, while floor-to-ceiling glass brings the ocean right into the main living space. Warm cedar siding and soaring wood ceilings soften the bold, modern lines and give the home a welcoming, lived-in feel.
