Nestled into a magical, private, woodsy ravine in Depoe Bay sits one of the Oregon Coast’s most luxurious vacation homes, Seaclusion. This stunning, ocean view home takes well-appointed comfort to the next level with its chef’s kitchen, wraparound deck (with hot tub!), cozy bedrooms and spa-like bathrooms (think sauna and soaking tub), multiple fireplaces, an arcade room, and a theater room. When it’s time to hit the beach, it’s just a short walk down to the sea on a private, enchanted forest path that feels like it’s out of a fairy tale. Oregon Home publisher Courtney Kutzman, her family and members of her “Quaranteam” escaped to Seaclusion for a sun-filled winter getaway and discovered that this luxurious oasis by the sea felt like a vacation all on its own.
Checking in to Seaclusion had the Kutzman crew feeling like they had reserved their own private coastal resort. Every space, inside and out, is a wonderland of high design, yet still cozy and comfortable. There is truly something for everyone. Game night in the arcade room was a huge hit with the kiddos. The whole group enjoyed an air hockey tournament the first night, followed by a dip in the hot tub under a sky full of stars. The next night, the spa-inspired master sitting area allowed for the moms to enjoy wine night by the fire while the kids (and their dads) were perfectly settled in for movie night in the theater room.
Since no one wanted to leave Seaclusion, the group put the gourmet kitchen to good use. Dinner highlights included fresh seafood from local favorite Barnacle Bill’s (including barbecued oysters on the deck!) and delicious Oregon Dungeness crab mac and cheese. An outdoor happy hour was made complete with an epic charcuterie board, paired with delicious local wines, sunset ocean views, and an occasional whale-spout sighting, as the magnificent mammals made their yearly migration along the Oregon Coast.
The last day arrived too quickly, and everyone stayed cuddled in their beds as long as they could, then gathered around the large dining table for a farewell pancake breakfast. One last “Quaranteam” trip to the beach and their mission was complete. All returned home from their weekend away rested, rejuvenated and filled with wonderful memories of life at Seaclusion — and already dreaming of their return.
No one wanted to leave the house, so charcuterie with ocean views was on the “let’s stay in” menu.
