Structure + Style 2021: Design Winners

Presenting the winners of the 2021 Structure + Style Awards: Design!

Interior Design: Bath

WINNER: Powell Construction

This 1970s daylight basement bathroom was dark and cramped. By expanding the footprint, integrating an unsightly stem wall, and adding bright contemporary fixtures and finishes, the space was rejuvenated. Design features such as the walk-in shower, freestanding tub, and heated slate tile floors make this the ultimate luxurious bathroom.

Interior Design: Kitchen

WINNER: Kelly McDougall Design Services

This circa 1950 galley kitchen needed a face lift. The cabinets were falling apart, the appliances were failing, and the confined space in the kitchen closed off the two adjacent living rooms. We removed the tile floor in the kitchen and living room, and continued the oak flooring throughout to connect the spaces. We were able to open up a portion of the wall between the kitchen and main living room to create the open vibe the client was looking for.

WINNER: Cozy~in~Love Spaces

A returning client, who had their dining room designed, desired to transform their dark living room into a classic, neutral and bright space — tying the two areas together with touches of navy, greenery and traditional accents. The result was a cohesive design that flowed and was perfect for entertaining.

Interior Design: Whole House Under 3,000 Sq. Ft.

WINNER: Zapata Design

My client wanted to bring this 100+ year old home back to life with color, style and textural elements. The goal was to honor the original build with modern updates. The Zellige tile in the bathrooms add textural interest, especially the green color upstairs which carries through the house.
