Get the look: Hotel Modera

Good design looks effortless. It rarely is. Ask anyone who has tried to create a cool mid-century look only to end up with a hot mess of mishmash. Getting the right color, texture, lighting and proportions within four walls is a balancing act. The Hotel Modera lobby in downtown Portland strikes that balance with a look that is pulled together without being too matchy-matchy.

She shoots assignments globally and is a contributor to National Geographic Traveler Magazine and The New York Times. She is a photography expert for National Geographic Expeditions and exhibits in galleries around the U.S., including the Froelick Gallery in Portland.

He is the founder of the botanical image resource company PhytoPhoto, which is dedicated to plant and garden photography. The focus covers everything from endangered species to local farmers markets and some of the world’s finest garden estates. His work appears regularly in publications worldwide.
