Washington loves modern and Idaho leans industrial. But Oregon? Beach House was the most popular interior style searched for in the last year, according to new research by Wren Kitchens. “People are reaching for relaxation as if on vacation,” says Kari de Lavenne, an interior designer and stylist in the Willamette Valley whose personal aesthetic draws inspiration from coastal landscapes. “Beach House cues all of the senses that make us comfortable and in the present.” The breezy, coastal style focuses on color palettes drawn from the sea — think blues and soft, sandy neutrals — as well as texture in the form of woven furniture and a sense of effortless elegance. That’s a feeling people in Oregon want to live with all year long.
